 Getting
into San Fransisco from the hotel
"BART" (Bay Area Rapid Transit) has a railway station at
San Francisco Airport, so it's fairly easy to use the hotel's airport shuttle (have
them drop you off at the International Terminal) then take BART from there into
San Francisco. Fare each way to downtown is $4.70 and takes about 1/2 hour.
Alternatively, at the lower level, you can catch SamTrans buses 292
or KX to downtown San Francisco. KX is $3.50 each way and also takes about 1/2 hour
(off-peak); 292 is $2.50 and takes about an hour (the route isn't particularly scenic,
either).
The third option (weekdays only) is using Caltrain. There's the "Burlingame
Free Bee" shuttle that runs mid-day right past the hotel to the Broadway and
Burlingame Caltrain stations. During peak hours there's a shuttle to the Millbrae
combined Caltrain/BART station.
Caltrain ends in San Francisco about a mile south of downtown, but
there are a number of strategically useful Muni buses and a Metro (light rail) line
that serve the station: 10 - Fisherman's Wharf; 15 - Chinatown, North Beach, Fisherman's
Wharf; 30 - Chinatown, North Beach, Marina; 45 - Chinatown, North Beach, Pacific
Heights; 47 - Van Ness; N-Judah - Outer Sunset (Pacific Ocean), running two blocks
south of Golden Gate Park. All routes go through the Financial District (downtown),
except 47 which runs past the Civic Center, considered slightly Southwest of downtown.
Starting Sept 22, Caltrain between Millbrae, Broadway or Burlingame
stations to San Francisco will be $3.00 each way, and is 30-35 minutes each way
(faster with expresses); Muni is $1.50 for at least 90 minutes; Free Bee and the
commuter shuttles are free; in a pinch, you can take BART shuttle from Millbrae
to the airport for $1.50 and the hotel shuttle from there.
The last Caltrain leaves San Francisco at 12:07am, but there's no
BART shuttle at Millbrae to SFO after 11:55pm. However, you could probably call
the hotel and ask to be picked up at one of the Burlingame stations. Between 1am
and 5am, Samtrans Route 397 runs once an hour, following largely the same route
(and at the same price) as line 292 to the airport, so late nights are also covered.

If you are renting a car, it's not too far to drive, and usually isn't
bad on the weekend. Parking can be a bit difficult, depending on where you're going
and when.

What kind of weather should you expect in San Francisco
during Warpstock? Locals say that October has the best weather the Bay Area has
to offer. The daily high should be 68 - 72 degrees F, light wind and sunny to partly
cloudy. There should be 50-100 mile visibility, with very little air pollution.
Nights will be 45 - 50 degrees F with no wind, and no rain. So a sweater or lite
jacket is all you should need on this trip. This is one of the few Warpstocks where
I may actually get out of the hotel for something other then the Social.
