The Sheraton Gateway ...
The Sheraton chain was recently purchased by the Starwood organization, which is trying to position itself as an
upscale hospitality provider. The Sheraton Gateway contributes quite respectably to that goal : the hotel, and
particularly guest rooms, are clean, attractive, well appointed and well maintained. The hotel (which is only a few
years old) is currently undergoing a "renovation", which is mostly a decorative make-over and the addition of some
amenities such as additional suites and a lobby lounge.
The MARTA (rapid transit) station is within walking distance from the hotel but there are no sidewalks between
the hotel and the station (which is at the airport). However, we are currently in discussion with the hotel management
to provide a shuttle service from the hotel to the airport for us as frequently as 12 to 15 minute intervals.
One feature of the hotel that we believe will be widely appreciated is the food service. Do not leave Warpstock
without trying the Dixie Fried Chicken and the Southern Fried Catfish. These two meals are $32 and $24
respectively including soup, a beer and coffee. A very nice "casual" restaurant, Ruby Tuesday, is right across the
street from the Sheraton.
There are a limited number of $45 and $49 rooms within easy walking distance of the convention center. But these
accommodations are spartan and not nearly as well serviced as the Sheraton.
