DEM-01 Workspace On-Demand Version 3 Oliver Mark
Room Date - time
Workspace On-Demand Version 3 is logically a follow-on to Version2, but technically a revolution in Thin-Client. Beside the discussion whether it was necessary or not, this Version runs transparently either on Warp Server, NT Server or Linux and boots a variety of Clients (including of course OS/2). Many new features to find, even in the new OS/2 Server and Client. Be excited about a full Server-managed Environment to maintain a low TCO and have full control of your clients.

DEM-02 OS/2 Netlabs Demonstrations OS/2 Netlabs
Room Date - time
Live demonstrations of the OS/2 Netlabs software projects throughout both days of the conference. Participate with these demo sessions to get started with the Netlabs' software tools. Find out how to install and use ODIN or Gimp/2 and witness the possibilities of these exciting applications.

DEM-04 Ounce of Prevention System John J. Urbaniak
Room Date - time
Modern industries realize that the task of maintaining their equipment and keeping it running at top-notch condition demands a high degree of professionalism:

  • Preventive Maintenance Schedules must be set up and adhered to.
  • Corrective, or emergency work must be performed when equipment fails, and more importantly, steps must be taken to prevent future unplanned breakdowns.
  • Costs of Labor, Parts and Tools must be recorded and analyzed for potential savings.
  • Safety procedures must be defined and followed.
  • Parts Inventory must be kept up to date so that parts are available when needed.
  • Downtime must be minimized. Uptime must be maximized. Productive Capacity must be optimized.
  • In many cases, ISO and QSO standards must be satisfied.

Aviar's "Oz of Prevention System" (Oz) handles all the needs of a modern Maintenance Organization. It is an evolution of a DOS system, judged "best overall" in an Industry Week, A.T. Kearney User Satisfaction Survey of Maintenance Management Systems. Oz runs on OS/2, WorkSpace on Demand, Warp Server for e-Business, and Serenity's eComStation. It is the only Maintenance System which is 100% IBM, utilizing OS/2, DB2 universal, Object REXX and VoiceType Dictation. In fact, Aviar has sold and installed Oz in several large companies, who were NOT previously OS/2 shops. Oz is completely translatable to non-English, single-byte languages. This presentation will cover the various Oz modules: Preventive Maintenance Scheduling, Work Order Generation, Planning, Cost Analysis, Parts Inventory, Purchasing and Receiving.

DEM-05 KidStuff for OS/2 Gwen L. Veneskey
Room Date - time
"KidStuff for OS/2" is Aviar's collection of "edu-tainment" modules designed for children aged 4 - 7. The modules combine primary-color graphics, music, shapes and sounds. When the child clicks a button, the computer speaks, or plays music. Shapes dance around and interesting things happen. "KidStuff" was intended to be simple, to give young children an introduction to computers, to teach reading, spelling, basic math, music, drawing and mouse coordination. It was designed to bring children and adults together for some quality time at the computer. All of the modules in "KidStuff for OS/2" have some educational function. We hope they are fun, too!

DEM-06 Zipstream Secure version 2 Bruce Leiwant
Room Date - time
Zipstream Secure version 2 is the newest edition of Carbon Based Software's data security and compression system for OS/2. The presentation focusses on the new features of version 2, how simply the product installs, its tight integration with the WPS, and some not so obvious tricks on how to set up the product to use with files that already exist. The presentation ends with a Q&A.

DEM-07 SciTech Display Doctor for OS/2 Kendall Bennett
Room Date - time
This presentation will be a discussion about current and future development of SciTech Display Doctor on the OS/2 platform. Included will be details of the current product features, product roadmap, and future technologies to be included in the product. Also mentioned will be the port of our SciTech MGL graphics library to the OS/2 platform, enabling high performance, cross platform 2D and 3D games and multi-media applications.

In this session we'll look at several examples that combine Mesa's REXX macro capabilities with its real-time feed feature to build real world solutions.
